The History of Baldwin, Florida

The audio isn't the best and some of it is a bit dry, but many of our students who live in and around Baldwin will appreciate this video. For those who aren't familiar with this small town on the western edge of Duval County, think back to our lesson on Consolidation. Baldwin was one of the four communities not to join Jacksonville. It sits at the intersections of U.S. Route 90, 301, and Interstate 10 while numerous railroads run through it.

Next time you're in Baldwin, try to spot Mr. Haas's old house on U.S. 301 while waiting for that inevitable train.
