Changes to the CLE Gifted Program

CLE 4th Grade Inclusion

Fourth grade will lead our transition to an inclusion classroom model this year. Gifted students enrolled in fourth grade at CLE will stay upstairs and receive their Gifted services from their regular classroom teachers. Ms. Hardage and Mrs. Chakraborty will be our two Gifted inclusion teachers. Mrs. Medley will provide support to all Gifted inclusion students. All other grades and the fourth grade students from our feeder schools will attend Gifted in a pull-out setting as in previous years.

Welcome back, Mr. Haas!

Mr. Haas will be returning to Gifted this year to work alongside Mrs. Medley. He cannot wait to see all of his old--and new--students. Mr. Haas will be working with all Gifted students except for the students in the inclusion classroom.

Gifted Curriculum Updates

The District has outlined several new goals for Gifted. They are as follows:

Goal 1: Content Area Knowledge
Goal 2: Questioning
Goal 3: Research
Goal 4: Critical and Creative Thinking
Goal 5: Leadership
Goal 6: Personal, Academic, Career Goals
Goal 7: Developing Authentic Products

Furthermore, the District has four major priorities for Gifted. They are:
1. Genius Hour
2. Research
3. Critical Thinking Skills
4. Science

We are looking forward to another wonderful year of Gifted at Chimney Lakes! Please contact Mrs. Medley or Mr. Haas if you have any further questions or concerns.
