IMPORTANT: Midyear Testing

In the last few weeks, we have received several reports of students not being sent to their gifted classes because of testing. This is not allowed. All gifted students have an Educational Plan that clearly states that they are to receive gifted services one day a week. Should the midyear scrimmage, i-Ready Diagnostic, Achieve3000 LevelSet, or any other classroom-based assessment be scheduled on their gifted day, then the students should be allowed to make up the test at a later date. The only exception is when it comes to the actual FSA. We work with our schools to minimize the disruption to gifted services, but it is not always possible to completely work around the testing schedule. However, the midyear scrimmage is not an official test from the State of Florida. Therefore, students should be in their gifted classes on their assigned day. Should you run into any difficulty at your child’s school, please let me know as soon as possible.
